2 Arrested Over Murder In Walewale Robbery

The police have in their custody two individuals for their alleged connection to the killing of two persons last week in a robbery incident at Walewale in the North East Region.

The attack, aside from the lives claimed, left seven others with various degrees of gunshot injuries on February 12 during a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor, the police confirmed.

The suspects were arrested over the weekend and are expected to be put before court immediately.

“The two suspects, Zakaria Yamusa alias Vandam and Fatao Issah, according to the initial Police report, shot and killed two people including a mobile money vendor and further caused injuries to seven (7) others during the attack on 12th February 2024.”

Meanwhile, investigations are still ongoing to nab remaining suspects, the police noted in their statement released over the weekend.

It also disclosed the Inspector-General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare has spoken to all the injured and the families of the two deceased victims via a telephone call and assured them of a thorough Police investigation while the North-East Regional Police Commander has led a team of officers to visit the injured persons at the hospital and commiserated with the deceased families.
