Trading Activities Halt Till Saturday Noon to Make Way for Sanitation Day Clean-Up in Kumasi

All trading and commercial activities in key areas of Kumasi will remain closed until 12noon on Saturday, 6th June 2026, as the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) leads an all-inclusive clean-up exercise.
The KMA said the exercise, scheduled from 6 am to 12noon, forms part of the government’s national sanitation efforts.
It is therefore calling on residents, social groups, corporate bodies and the business community to participate fully.
In a statement, the Assembly directed that no commercial vehicles will be allowed to move during the period in the designated operational areas.
The zones cover the frontage of Kumasi Children’s Hospital through Zoo Roundabout to Komfo Anokye Roundabout, Adum Pampaso Lorry Station through Otumfuo Roundabout to Donkirk, Racecourse Market, Bantama Market and its environs, and Asafo Market through the VIP Bus Terminal to Asafo Cement Roundabout.
Traders, corporate entities and commercial drivers within these areas must keep their premises closed and refrain from movement until the exercise ends at noon.
Organisations and groups willing to take part have been asked to contact Mr Kwaku Poku, Head of the Environmental Health Unit, on 0243351800 for logistics and guidance.
The Assembly said it expects full compliance from all traders, drivers and residents, adding that the clean-up is aimed at improving sanitation and public health across the metropolis.
