E/R: Truck Driver Escapes Death After Brake Failure

A DAF CARGO truck driver escaped death after getting trapped in his vehicle following a brake failure at Mamfe-Amamprobi in the Eastern Region.

The truck with registration number GR 3583-15 was conveying over 1,000 cartons of bottled water to Kumasi when the accident happened on Monday, September 8, 2025.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a severe damage to the head compartment of the vehicle trapped the driver.

A rescue team from the Akropong Fire Station swiftly responded to the road traffic accident, successfully extricating the driver and transporting him to the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by brake failure while the truck was en route to Kumasi.”

It further confirmed, “The incident resulted in one injured person, the driver, with no fatalities reported. The vehicle sustained partial damage to the head compartment, four rims were damaged, and two tyres completely destroyed.”
