Gender Minister Engages Husband of Fashion Icon Nana Akua after Abuse Saga

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has engaged Mr. Norman Harold, husband of fashion icon Nana Akua Addo, following his discharge from the hospital in the wake of the family’s alleged abuse saga.
Mr. Harold was unavailable when the Minister visited the family earlier, as he was receiving medical care.
The engagement, according to the Ministry, is part of ongoing interventions to address the welfare of the family following public concerns over domestic issues.
During the meeting, Dr. Lartey said the immediate priority is to ensure the safety, wellbeing and emotional welfare of the family, especially the children.
She stressed the need to provide them with a safe and stable environment, free from conflict and circumstances that adversely affect their development.
“The children’s welfare must remain paramount as the Ministry and other relevant institutions address the situation,” the Minister emphasised.
She also underscored the importance of appropriate psychosocial and social welfare support to safeguard the emotional wellbeing of the entire family.
As part of the support arrangements, the Ministry said social welfare officers will be involved in monitoring the children’s welfare and ensuring that their safety and best interests remain a priority.
The Ministry intends to continue to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service and other relevant institutions to support the family’s welfare while police investigations into the matter proceed.
