KNUST Postpones Re-Opening for 2026/2027 Academic Year Indefinitely Over GAUA Strike

The Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced the indefinite postponement of the re-opening of the University for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

The re-opening was originally scheduled for 13th October, 2026.

In a press release dated October 9, 2026, and signed by the University Relations Officer, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, for the Registrar, Management said the decision had become necessary in view of the ongoing strike action by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and its impact on the University’s effective operations and administration.

“Students, parents/guardians, and all other stakeholders are kindly advised to take note of this development. The University Management will provide further updates on the revised re-opening date in due course,” the statement said.

Management regretted any inconvenience the postponement may cause and expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders.
