Finance Minister Decodes His Symbolic Budget Bag

Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson on the day for the much-awaited budget statement presentation stepped out in a two-piece suit, carrying alongside a brown briefcase with the coat of arms of Ghana embossed at the edge.
It appears the handcrafted leather briefcase which contained the budget statement for 2025 held a symbolic significance.
In a Facebook post, he noted that the briefcase was “no ordinary bag” as he conveyed the meaning.
According to him, it was a Horseman Minimalist Handmade Leather briefcase, a product of Ghanaian shoemaker Tonyi Senayah.
He explained that “The Budget was symbolically carried in a Made-in-Ghana bag—an embodiment of President John Mahama’s ‘Buy Ghana, Wear Ghana’ agenda.”
He continued, “Crafted from premium authentic leather, this briefcase wasn’t just about functionality; it was about telling a story of resilience, self-reliance, and national pride.”
The John Dramani Mahama-led administration presented its maiden Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
