Asanteman Mourns: X5 Pub To Supply Free Meals To Manhyia Courtiers During Nana Konadu Yiadom III Burial Rites

Popular Kumasi-based restaurant, X5 Pub & Restaurant, has committed to supplying free meals to courtiers of the Manhyia Palace during the four-day burial rites of the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa.

The Chief Executive Officer of the eatery, Mr Samuel Sarpong, said 500 packs of meals will be supplied each day.

This was announced to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the observation of the seventh Awukudae Festival.

This will be his support towards the event, which begins on September 15 and ends on September 18.

Held on September 10, 2025, participants used the occasion of the festival to pay homage to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene.

It was also used to extend condolence messages over the passing of Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa, and make donations in support of the upcoming burial rites of the Queen.

The event drew Nananom, individuals, identifiable groups and corporate organisations to the Palace in Kumasi.

Among them were former Diplomat Isaac Osei, former Central Command GOC Brigadier-General Michael Opoku, Standard Chartered Bank, Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, National Insurance Commission, Grace Baptist Church (Amakom-Kumasi) and Asanteman Nwomkro and Kete Group.

Also present were Asante Youth Association (AYA), Ghana National Union of Queenmothers, Centre for National Culture, United Ghana Empire, Sweden Asantes Union, Ashtown branch of Assemblies of God Church, UCC Vice Chancellor Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong, CEO of Amegashie Herbal Clinic Dr. Samuel Amagashie and others.
