COCOBOD CEO Admits Financial Crisis

Dr. Randy Abbey, CEO of Ghana COCOBOD, has informed cocoa farmers that the company is currently facing financial difficulties.
Addressing farmers at Nkawie and Nyinahin districts, Dr. Abbey explained that the company is working to address its significant debt burden.
He emphasized the importance of cocoa to Ghana’s economy, citing 800,000 cocoa farmers and 10,260 COCOBOD workers nationwide.
Dr. Abbey sought the farmers’ support, suggestions, and ideas to help restructure the company.
The CEO noted that 2027 marks 80 years of Ghana’s cocoa industry, which has been a cornerstone of the country’s economy.
He expressed hope that by working together, they can improve the cocoa sector and ultimately benefit other areas, such as healthcare and infrastructure.
The cocoa farmers who participated in the engagement shared their thoughts and ideas with the COCOBOD CEO and management.
