Hweebaahene Swears Allegiance to Otumfuo

Nana Osei Kwame II, Hweebaahene, has sworn allegiance to the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

His Majesty granted his request to swear allegiance on August 10, 2026, following the resolution of almost a decade of dispute over the stool.

He was presented before the Kumasi Traditional Council by Otumfuo Hiahene to take the oath.

Prior to this, Hweebaahene, who serves as the hunter of the Asantehene, received counsel from the Council.

He was, among other things, charged to uphold the Great Oath.

Meanwhile, the Asantehene traced the origins of the stool, which is occupied by descendants of a linguist of Hiahene.

His Majesty affirmed that despite being subject to Hiahene, Hweebaahene swears allegiance directly to him due to his traditional duty to the Palace.

“You swear allegiance directly to me so that you will have a clear mind to serve me meat from your hunting expedition.”

In addition, Otumfuo advised him to accord his traditional mother respect.

“Respect your mother as you ascend the stool. She toiled for you to come this far.”

Taking the sword, Nana Osei Kwame pledged his unflinching commitment to the Golden Stool and its occupant.
