Fire Guts Six-bedroom House at Lakeside Estate

A six-bedroom house at Lakeside Estate in the Greater Accra Region has been razed down by fire.
Preliminary investigations point to a faulty electrical socket as the cause of the fire, the Ghana National Fire Service said in a statement on Monday.
Reporting on the fire which happened on August 22, the GNFS said its crew arrived at the scene five minutes after a call to find the two-storey building containing six bedroom house engulfed in fire and thick smoke.
“Due to the fast-spreading nature of the fire, a fire tender appliance from the Madina Fire Station was dispatched to augment firefighting efforts. The crews contained the fire to the second floor, preventing it from spreading to the ground floor and adjoining buildings.”
The fire was brought under control at 1628 hours and extinguished at 1725 hours.
It noted that there was no injury but extensive damage to one bedroom on the top floor.
