Antigua Requests More Ghanaian Health Workers After Impressive Impact of First 120 Nurses

Antigua and Barbuda has requested more health workers from Ghana after the first group of 120 Ghanaian nurses posted to the Caribbean country made an impressive impact.

The request was confirmed during a bilateral meeting between Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and his host, Antigua and Barbuda’s Foreign Minister, His Excellency Everly Paul Chet Greene.

The two ministers reviewed the growing cooperation between the two countries, with particular focus on the deployment of Ghanaian health professionals to support Antigua and Barbuda’s health system.

The positive performance of the first batch of nurses has paved the way for an expanded partnership in the health sector.

The meeting also highlighted the new Visa Waiver agreement between Ghana and Antigua and Barbuda for all categories of passport holders.

The agreement is expected to bring the two countries closer as they deepen trade, tourism and people-to-people relations.

Beyond the bilateral agenda, the discussions touched on Ghana’s upcoming role as Chair of the African Union next year.

Ghana is forging closer ties with international allies to advance Africa’s case for UN reforms, including ensuring that Africa is permanently represented on the UN Security Council.
