Online Top-Up Challenge Hit Some Prepaid Meters

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a temporary challenge affecting the online top-up of credits for some prepaid meters.
In a notice issued on Thursday, November 5, 2026, ECG said some of its prepaid meters, specifically MMS-compliant meters, are currently experiencing a technical challenge with online top-up of credits.
“Please be informed that some of our prepaid meters (MMS-compliant) are currently experiencing a technical challenge with online top-up of credits,” the company stated.
ECG advised customers experiencing the challenge to still purchase electricity credits from their nearest vending stations.
The company said its technical team is working assiduously to resolve the challenge as quickly as possible.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding,” ECG added.
