Otumfuo to Attend Convocation and Dinner Marking GIMPA’s 65th Anniversary

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will attend a convocation and formal dinner organised by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) to mark its 65th Anniversary.

Both events will take place on campus on Wednesday, November 11, 2026.

The Asantehene was formally informed of the arrangements by the Rector of the institute, Prof. Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, on November 6, 2026, during a briefing ahead of the visit.

He will grace the occasion as the distinguished Guest of Honour.

At the convocation, scheduled for the morning, the institution will highlight its history, achievements, and vision for the next 65 years.

The anniversary dinner will follow later in the evening.

According to Prof. Kwaku Bonsu, His Majesty will deliver an address to motivate, counsel, and encourage the institution for the years ahead.

He welcomed the arrangements and committed to honouring the invitation.

His Majesty further recalled how the institute was established by Dr Kwame Nkrumah to equip civil servants with administrative and professional competence to plan and administer national, regional, and local services.

Meanwhile, Otumfuo urged the leadership to embrace modern technology.

“The world has transitioned and modernised so much that there is AI and other advanced technology. We no longer rely on handwritten notes but typing. How are you transitioning to meet this demand?”

He further challenged the Rector and the current management team to leave a lasting legacy.

“A lot of people have preceded you. Now it is your turn to make an impact and etch your name in golden ink,” he added.

The Rector was accompanied by Prof. Ebenezer Adaku, Deputy Rector; Dr Victoria Kunbour, Registrar; and Odelia Ntiamoah, Director of Corporate Affairs and Institutional Advancement.
