Sports Minister Promises to Disclose Carlos Queiroz’s Actual Salary

The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, has committed to disclosing the exact salary of newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz.

The Minister gave the assurance while refuting claims that the coach will receive a salary of USD 100,000 per month.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the Buem member of Parliament said the full and accurate details of the financial agreement between the coach and the Ministry will be made public before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“Carlos Queiroz is being paid less than USD 100,000; his salary is not up to that quoted amount out there,” Mr. Adams clarified.

“The actual salary and details will be revealed later, before the World Cup. He was signed on a four-month contract,” he added.

Mr. Adams further outlined the task given to Queiroz as the nation prepares for the World Cup in the summer.

He said the decision to appoint the experienced Portuguese coach reflects the expectations of Ghanaians.

“For us as a nation, to part ways with our home-grown coach, Otto Addo, and to bring you, Carlos Queiroz, to handle the affairs of the team during the World Cup should tell you the expectations of the Ghanaian people,” he said.

The Minister revealed that the technical team has been given a clear target for the tournament.

“We have not made up our minds just to participate in those three games in the group stage and then come back. We have given the coach a good target: to at least do better than we did the last time and to reach the semi-final,” Mr. Adams stated.
