Complete Road Blockade on Accra-Kumasi Highway After Truck Crash at Birimso Bridge
Traffic on the N6 Highway has been brought to a complete halt at Birimso Bridge following a crash involving a heavily loaded articulated truck.
The Ghana Police Service said the incident occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2026, and has blocked both Accra-bound and Kumasi-bound lanes.
In a statement, police said officers from the Eastern South Regional MTTD team based in Kibi are at the scene managing the situation.
To ease congestion, traffic has been temporarily diverted. Accra-bound traffic is being routed through Kibi at Nsutam, while Kumasi-bound traffic is being diverted at Apedwa.
The diversions took effect from 10:00 a.m. today.
The Police have advised motorists and other road users to cooperate with officers on the ground as efforts to clear the road continue.
Motorists are urged to exercise patience and follow diversion signs to avoid further delays.
