Ashanti NPP MPs Blast Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko For Community Roads Comment

The Ashanti Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament have taken a swipe at Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, a leading member of the party, for a recent comment relating to developmental projects undertaken in the region by their erstwhile government.

In a statement, the group condemned the assertions as false, inaccurate and misleading.

It observes the remarks and seeks to ‘malign and unfairly’ portray Ashanti MPs.

“We wish to place on record that no such meeting ever took place between Ashanti MPs and any person in authority, where such a choice or preference was made.”

Acknowledging and appreciating the developmental efforts by successive NPP governments in the region, stated, “The improvement of several community road networks, the redevelopment of major markets such as Kejetia, the construction of schools and hospitals, and the support for industries under flagship initiatives like One District, One Factory (IDIF) are all commendable interventions that have positively impacted our people.”

However, it affirmed that the efforts of the NPP governments are insufficient compared to the immense loyalty, electoral support, and contribution it offers the party.

“The people of Ashanti have stood unwaveringly with the party, and it is only fair that their loyalty is rewarded with projects that reflect their central role in Ghana’s political and economic development.”

It comes after Gabby suggested that Members of Parliament from the Ashanti Region opted for community roads instead of flyovers, accounting for the current state of infrastructure in the region.
