U/E: Bongo NHIA Director Burnt to Death
The Director of the Bongo National Health Insurance Directorate, Mohammed Seidu Akugri, has been murdered by unknown assailants.
According to the Member of Parliament for Bawuku Central Constituency, Hon Mahama Ayariga, the deceased was shot to death and burnt by the assailants.
The dastardly act happened at Nangodi near Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region. This recent attack has been linked to the Bawku dispute, which is undergoing resolution.
The Majority Leader of Parliament in a statement condemned the act and urged law enforcement agencies to investigate and arrest the assailants.
“I urge law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate and apprehend perpetrators behind the dastardly act.”
He further urged parties in the dispute to commit to the resolution process being mediated by the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“I urge all to remain calm and let’s focus on the ongoing efforts of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to bring a lasting solution to the Bawku situation.”
He also commended the youth for exercising restraint in the face of this recent attack.
“Significant progress is being made, and no one should be allowed to derail the process,” he affirmed.
