The Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll Foundation in pursuit of enhancing the quality of life of Ghanaian children by improving education has donated Prof. Quarm’s Science Textbooks and Workbooks to 24 deprived schools in the Akrofuom District of Ashanti Region, on Wednesday, August 11, 2022.
According to the Stakeholder and Capacity Building Director of the Foundation, Mr. Kwabena Owusu Ababio, the Foundation in consultation with the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate of Ghana Education Service selected these 24 deprived schools in the district for a donation of these NaCCA approved Science Textbooks and Workbooks with a total of 5,760 books from primary 1 to 6 were presented to the beneficiaries schools in 5 Circuit of the district.
Mr. Ababio said, the Kind gesture exhibited by the King’s Foundation is the first phase of a series of Science Textbooks and Workbooks to be donated to selected deprived schools in the Ashanti Region in fulfilling the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) interest from the basic level of education in Ghana.
Some of the beneficiary schools include; Yaadome D/A basic, Betenase D/A basic, Asasebombesea D/A basic, Adubensaso D/A primary, Kramokrom D/A basic, Adansi Islamic Institute basic, and other basic schools in the Akrofuom District.
Speaking to Opemsuo Radio’s Kwame Adu Gyamfi Kumanin, Mr. Daniel Kwaku Gyasi, the head of Inspectorate Akrofuom Education Directorate spoke on behalf of Akrofuom District Director of Education, Mr. George Sarfo Kantanka expressed profound gratitude to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll Foundation for the support to improve teaching and learning in the Akrofuom District.
Mr. Gyasi pleaded with the Foundation to support the various schools in other core subject Textbooks.
In addition, he called on other philanthropists and diaspora members from Akrofuom to come to their aid to improve the education system in the Akrofuom District.
