Otumfuo Blesses KNUST SHS’ 65th Anniversary Celebration Plans

The occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has given his blessing to plans for the 65th Anniversary Celebration of KNUST Senior High School.
His Majesty was briefed on the plans during a courtesy visit by the school’s Board and Management on May 8, 2026. Board Chairperson, Prof. Dr Mrs. Chrissie Abaidoo, sought the Asantehene’s permission to proceed with the celebrations.
In her submission, she explained that the school’s 60th anniversary in 2021 was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The school will be celebrating its 65th anniversary. We are here to present our plans to Otumfuo and seek his blessings to proceed. We clocked 60 years in 2021, but the COVID-19 outbreak hindered the celebration. Since we couldn’t mark the 60th, we decided to celebrate this 65th,” she said.
Her delegation included Lady Veronica Celattia Tandoh, Chairperson of the Celebration Planning Committee; Anthony Duodo Antwi, Headmaster; Sir John Kofi Tandoh, National President of TECHSOSA; Mrs Leticia Otchere-Larbi, Assistant Head of Domestic; and Ms Charlotte Abena Afriyie Fordjour.
Otumfuo readily accepted the request and offered his blessings.
“I will give you all the support to celebrate this milestone. Let us know the arrangements for the celebration so we know how to help,” he said.
His Majesty also commended the institution for its contribution to national development through education.
“The High School has bred a lot of people. It bred the sons and daughters of the professors in the school, and they have all grown into prominent personalities,” he said.
He further expressed confidence in the school’s Board and Management.
