GCB Bank Donates GHC5 Million to Support Black Stars Ahead of 2026 World Cup

Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB Bank) has donated GHC5 million to the Black Stars as the national team intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The generous support comes at a crucial time as new coach Carlos Queiroz works tirelessly to assemble the best possible squad for Ghana’s campaign in North America next month.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L alongside heavyweights England and Croatia, as well as Panama. Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England and Croatia in the remaining group matches.
As part of their build-up, the team will face Mexico in a friendly on May 22. A squad for that game has already been announced, notably without most of the key European-based players.
The final 26-man squad for the World Cup is expected to be named ahead of the Wales friendly in early June.
The timely financial boost from GCB Bank is expected to go a long way in supporting the Black Stars’ logistical and preparatory needs as they aim to make a strong impression at the global stage.
