NUGS Launches 2024 Innovation Challenge
National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Pedagogy International (Cultural Links USA), in collaboration with Sankofa Global Education, launched the National Union of Ghana Students Innovation Challenge on Friday, January 12, 2024.
The NUGS Innovation Challenge Lectures took place at the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs in Manhyia, attracting dignitaries and students from Ghana and overseas.
The occasion was graced by Mrs. Tirrell MickNight, an Export and Import Administration Specialist from the United States of America, Prof Osei Bonsu Sarfo Kantanka (Director of Pedagogy International and CEO of Asanteman Community Foundation), Mr. Asare Bediako (Secretary for Education, NUGS), and representatives from the Akenten Appiah Minkah University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED).
The theme for the 2024 NUGS Innovation Challenge is “Fostering Progress: Unleashing Creativity in Education for Global Impact and Empowering Student Entrepreneurs to Thrive Globally through USA Import/Export Opportunities”.
Mr. Asare Bediako, Secretary for Education, NUGS, revealed in an exclusive interview with Opemsuo News Reporter Kwaku Wusu Aduomi that the challenge aims to empower minds and ignite change for students’ benefit.
According to him, the NUGS Innovation Challenge is a structured ideation competition where students or student groups compete to generate creative solutions in various fields such as entrepreneurship, agriculture, health and medicine and waste management.
He said that, “The Innovation Challenge will further help in the transformation of ideas into impact, which will be beneficial to the student body in developing the country as entrepreneurs.”
“This initiative, when students get involved, will not only make them financially self-reliant but will also lessen the burden of their parents in providing their needs.”
“Our plan is to sustain any idea our students will bring on board to solve our own social problems”, he stressed.
On her part, the Export and Import Administration Specialist, Mrs. Tirrell MickNight explained the necessity of coming to Ghana to give lectures on Export and Import programme.
She said she seeks to create a bigger picture in terms of Export and Import Technology for Ghana to generate revenue.
Students from the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development also shared their excitement over the lectures.
