No GDCL Staff Will Be Laid Off Due to Floods – Communications Minister

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has assured workers of Ghana Digital Centres Ltd. that no staff will be laid off as a result of the recent flooding at the company’s facilities.
The Minister gave the assurance on Monday during a meeting with the Board, Management and Staff of GDCL to assess the impact of the floods and discuss the company’s recovery plan.
“We are not laying off any staff of GDCL, whether temporarily or permanently, because of the flood. Every one of you is assured of the continuity of your jobs,” George told employees.
He said the government remains fully committed to the welfare and job security of GDCL staff, even as the Ministry works to restore operations.
The Minister, however, noted that the period ahead will require a renewed focus on efficiency and profitability.
“Let’s take this as the reset of the reset. Every staff member will have to play their role because it’s not going to be business as usual,” he stated.
George added that the Ministry will support GDCL’s recovery while strengthening governance and operational efficiency to ensure long-term sustainability.
“With the assets you hold, there is no excuse for GDCL not to be profitable… It will not fail, not under my watch,” he affirmed.
