No Party Is bigger than Ghana, Let’s Uphold Peace- Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi

The President of the National House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahohoo Yaw Gyebi has called for coordinated and collective effort in preserving peace in Ghana.

Speaking at the “Ahoho Da” event at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, he stated that the tranquility the country enjoys must be prioritised over the individual aspirations and agenda of the political parties and aspiring candidates.

According to him, it behoves on all Ghanaians to work toward the preservation of the peace for economic stability.

“Very soon the political campaign will intensify and election fever and tension will rise. We need to remind ourselves that no matter our interest and political affiliation, we are one people with a common destiny. It is our responsibility to preserve it.

“It is important for all of us to work towards fair, peaceful elections. In relation to the forthcoming elections, political campaign themes have emerged. The NPP’s ‘Breaking the 8’, the NDC’s ‘Building the Ghana we Want Together ‘, Hon Alan Kyerematen’s Alliance for Revolutionary Change and the Nana Kwame Bediako’s New Force Agenda. None of these is bigger than Ghana. We need to queue vote and have our results declared.”

He also urged traditional authorities to sensitise their people against electoral violence.

“As chiefs and community leaders, we have a responsibility to educate our people especially the youth not to allow themselves for any politician or political group to exploit their vulnerabilities to engage in violence or any vice which will undermine the individual and the community safety or the integrity of elections.”

Ghana will on December 7, 2024 go to the polls to elect a new head of state and government as well as legislators.
