Ghana High Commission in South Africa Suspends Voluntary Repatriation Registration

The Ghana High Commission in South Africa has announced a temporary suspension of registration for the ongoing voluntary repatriation exercise, effective June 2, 2026.

The High Commission said the pause is to enable it and South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs to process and screen the large number of applications already received.

To date, over 1,500 Ghanaians have registered for the exercise, and verification and processing of those applications are currently underway.

The date for the next phase of registration will be communicated in due course, the mission stated.

The High Commission further assured all interested Ghanaians who have not yet registered that the repatriation exercise has not ended.

Those yet to apply will get another opportunity once the current batch of applications is cleared.

The mission expressed appreciation to the Ghanaian community in South Africa for their cooperation, patience and understanding as it works to ensure a well-coordinated exercise.
