Ancestral Foundation Partners Appleton University to Transform Basic Education in Ghana

In a significant step towards international educational collaboration, the founders of Ancestral Foundation Ohenenana Kofi Owusu Nyarko(L.H.D.) and Mr. Nyarko Frederick Owusu have signed a Joint Cooperation Agreement with the Rector of Appleton Private University in Spain, Dr. José M. M. Castelo-Appleton.
The partnership focused on exploring future joint projects aimed at strengthening basic education in Ghana.
On one hand, Appleton Private University is known for its focus on developing interpersonal skills and its strong commitment to social impact and on the other hand, the Ancestral Foundation is dedicated to preserving cultural heritage and creating educational programs that connect new generations with their roots.
Both institutions have now been certified as full members of the International Federation of Private Universities in London, United Kingdom, with registration number M32025-65.
This recognition was granted in acknowledgment of their commitment to academic excellence, educational innovation, and international collaboration in the field of private higher education.
During the dialogue, various areas of possible cooperation were discussed. Among the highlighted topics were the creation of cultural and academic exchange programs for teachers, researchers and students, the development of didactic material that incorporates the rich history and heritage of Ghana, and the implementation of new pedagogical methodologies that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving from an early age.
Dr. Castelo-Appleton expressed his enthusiasm for the potential of this partnership, stressing that “education is the most powerful tool for the empowerment of communities. By uniting our academic experience with the deep cultural knowledge of the Ancestral Foundation, we can create a lasting and significant impact on the lives of children and young people in Ghana.”
For their part, the founders of the Ancestral Foundation expressed their interest in integrating the educational innovation proposed by Appleton Private University with their existing programs. The objective is to offer an education that is not only of high academic quality but is also rooted in the values and cultural identity of the country, preparing students to be global citizens with a strong sense of belonging.
Both parties agreed to establish working teams to develop concrete proposals in the coming months. The partnership marks the beginning of what is expected to be a fruitful strategic alliance, with the firm purpose of contributing to the sustainable development and prosperous future of Ghana through education.
It is anticipated that the first pilot projects to establish a state-of-the-art basic education facility in Ghana could be launched early next year, laying the foundation for a long-term partnership.
A delegation from the Ancestral Foundation will visit the Appleton Private University to sign all documentation to commence the project and the Appleton Private University delegation will also visit Ghana for the sod cutting ceremony to commence the project.
Ancestral Foundation have proven over the years as an NGO that prioritised education as a soft power tool for its people.
