Navy Takes Over Presidential Security

The Ghana Navy has taken over security at the Jubilee House following the 48th Ceremonial Changing of the Guard Parade at the seat of the President on Monday, June 15, 2026.
The event, presided over by President John Dramani Mahama, marked the formal handover of presidential security duties from the Ghana Army.
The tradition, which rotates security responsibility for the Presidency among the three branches of the Ghana Armed Forces, saw naval personnel officially assume the role for the next three months.
The ceremony was witnessed by senior government officials, including Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, National Security Adviser Mr Prosper Douglas Kwame Bani, Interior Minister Mr Muntaka Mubarak, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Dr Agnes Naa Mooe Lartey, and Deputy Defence Minister Mr Ernest Brogya Genfi.
The Changing of the Guard Parade is a symbolic event that underscores inter-service cooperation and the Armed Forces’ commitment to safeguarding the seat of government.
With the Navy now on duty, the rotation will continue later in the year when another service takes over.
