NADMO Disclaims GH₵1,200 Flood Victim Allowance as Scam

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has warned the public against a fraudulent message circulating online that promises a GHC1,200 government of Ghana allowance to flood victims.

In a statement released Friday, NADMO said the message is false and fraudulent and has no connection with the Government of Ghana or the organisation.

According to NADMO, the scam is designed to trick unsuspecting Ghanaians, especially those affected by recent floods, into clicking malicious links and surrendering sensitive personal information.

The Authority cautioned citizens not to click the link, share the message, or provide details such as Ghana Card numbers, bank account information, MoMo details, passwords, PINs or OTPs to unknown persons.

NADMO emphasised that all official relief and humanitarian support programmes are announced only through its verified communication channels.

The organisation urged the public to confirm any disaster-related information before taking action.

Victims or persons who encounter the fake message have been advised to report it to the Ghana Police Service Cyber Crime Unit or to the nearest NADMO office.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to providing legitimate and transparent support to persons affected by disasters and said it will continue to work with security agencies to protect the public from fraudsters who exploit disaster situations.
