N/R: Gender Ministry Probes School Feeding Programme Meals after Complaints

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has launched investigations into reports of poor quality and inadequate meals served to pupils of Buaduyili Primary School in the Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
The Ministry, in a statement, said it has taken note of concerns raised by parents and teachers of the school and is working with the Ghana School Feeding Programme Secretariat to “ascertain the facts and determine the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.”
MoGCSP assured the public that the government remains “firmly committed” to ensuring all beneficiary children receive adequate, nutritious, and quality meals in a safe learning environment.
“The Ghana School Feeding Programme remains a critical social protection intervention aimed at reducing hunger among school children, improving school enrolment and attendance and enhancing the nutritional wellbeing of pupils across the country,” the statement read.
The Ministry warned that appropriate sanctions will be applied to any individual or entity found culpable after the investigations. It stressed that “any action or omission that undermines the objectives, standards and integrity of the Programme will not be tolerated.”
Under the government’s Reset Agenda, MoGCSP said deliberate steps are being taken to strengthen social protection interventions and improve financing, monitoring, and implementation of the GSFP for efficiency, accountability, and quality service delivery.
