Gender Ministry Invites Public to Help Monitor School Feeding Programme

The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) is calling on Ghanaians to become “watchdogs” of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) as the government rolls out reforms under its Reset Agenda to improve accountability and meal quality.

The Ministry said deliberate steps are being taken to strengthen financing, monitoring, and implementation of the GSFP for efficiency and quality service delivery.

However, it stressed that the government alone cannot safeguard the Programme’s integrity.

The Ministry therefore urged Regional and Zonal Coordinators, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, community leaders, the media, parents, and the general public to actively collaborate with the Ministry and the GSFP Secretariat in monitoring implementation.

Parents and community members are being encouraged to report poor meal quality, irregular feeding days, or any misconduct by caterers to District Assemblies or directly to the GSFP Secretariat.

The call comes after complaints from parents and teachers of Buaduyili Primary School in Nanumba North over meal quality and quantity, which prompted the Ministry to launch investigations.

Under the Reset Agenda, MoGCSP says it will not tolerate any action or omission that undermines the objectives and standards of the Programme. Sanctions will be applied to any caterer or official found culpable after investigations.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the GSFP.
