Society of the Physically Disabled Fumes At Shatta

The Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) has taken offence at Shatta Wale’s insult hurled at dancehall artiste Stonebwoy over his absence from their collaborative show.

Shatta in a video called out his colleague in the industry for absenting himself from the highly anticipated Sallahfest which took place last week and further used some derogatory remarks against him. In the process, Shatta poked fun at Stonebwoy’s disability.

He is quoted to have said, “You are a bad person that is why God made you a disabled person, you are a disabled person don’t try and fight an able person”.

The statement did not go down well with the GSPD who have taken on the “I Know My Level” hitmaker.

“The GSPD takes exception to this statement and asks Shatta Wale to retract the statement, remove such video from social media and apologize to all persons with disability and Ghanaians,” the National President, Mathew Annor Kodom said in a statement.

He noted, “The GSPD reiterated that being a person with a disability does not mean you are cursed, or God is punishing you.”

Meanwhile, he alluded to the legal implication of mocking persons with disability and urged the public to embrace such with empathy.

“Using a person’s disability to mock him or her or making derogatory remarks about a person’s disability is a punishable offence by law, refer to the Disability Act 715.”
