Menstrual Hygiene: Government Urged To Reduce Taxes On Sanitary Pads

The Regional Leader of Girl Up Ghana, a non-governmental organization that focuses more on girl child education, Lady Juliet Nyarko Adansi, has urged the government to reduce taxes on sanitary pads for menstrual hygiene to promote girl child education.

Lady Juliet, who doubles as the Lady Juliet Corporate Project Administrator, said girl child education and menstruation are critical in girl child education, and the Gender and Social Protection Ministry and the Education Ministry should plead with the government to help reduce the price of sanitary pads.

Furthermore, she urged parents and guardians to take good care of their school children concerning their upbringing in society.

Lady Juliet called on all society’s stakeholders to mitigate the rate of teenage pregnancy in the country.

She made this statement during her project dubbed “Keep Her In School”
in which she donated teaching and learning materials, and sanitary pads to the pupil of Ayigya M/A primary school A in Kumasi on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
