GES Dismisses Viral Flyer Claiming WASSCE Papers Swept Away by Floods

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has labelled a viral flyer circulating on social media as false, which claims that heavy rains on Monday, June 30, 2026, caused most West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) papers to be swept away.
The flyer, designed with the GES and WAEC logos, claimed that the downpour had destroyed examination papers, making them unavailable for the ongoing exams, and that GES was considering a rewrite of the affected papers with a new timetable to be issued later.
It was dated July 1, 2026, and purportedly signed by GES Management. In response, GES posted the same flyer on its official channels with a large “FAKE” stamp across it, making clear that the statement did not emanate from the Service.
The Service urged the general public, parents, students, and stakeholders to disregard the false publication.
The GES reiterated its commitment to transparency, fairness, and quality in assessment, and said it will communicate directly through its official platforms should there be any genuine update regarding the 2026 WASSCE.
