Medeama Chooses T and A Stadium for CAF Matches

Medeama Sporting Club have settled on the T and A Stadium in Tarkwa as their first choice venue for their home games in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League Group Stage.

This was announced on Tuesday and comes on the back of reports that the reigning Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions had chosen the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi for their campaign.

In a press statement, the Yellow and Mauves said, “We bring to the notice of our supporters and the sporting public that Medeama Sporting Club has not selected the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi as its home venue for the group stage of the 2023-24 CAF Champions League.”

They have instead opted for the newly constructed T and A Stadium in Tarkwa as their first option, pending inspection and clearance by CAF.

However, they noted that the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and the Cape Coast Stadium, which are the only two approved venues for the CAF inter-club competitions, are also under consideration.

The club concluded, “Regardless of the venue chosen for our home matches, we are confident that Ghanaians will turn up in their numbers to support the team to thrive.”

After conducting the group stage draw on October 6, 2023, in Johannesburg, South Africa, Medeama fell into Group D against reigning champions Al Ahly SC, Algeria’s CR Belouizdad, and Tanzania’s Young Africans.

The Tarkwa-based club will play against Al Ahly in Egypt in November before hosting Belouizdad in Ghana in December.

The continental competition’s group stage matches are scheduled to start on November 25, 2023, and end on March 2, 2024.
