Mahama in Minsk, 4 Ghana–Belarus Deals Expected

President John Dramani Mahama will today hold bilateral talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko at the Presidential Palace in Minsk, as both countries push to deepen economic and agricultural cooperation.

The closed-door meeting, scheduled for this morning, will precede a high-level bilateral session between officials of the two governments.

Four memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed following the engagement, targeting new frontiers in trade, agriculture, and technical cooperation.

The MoUs are expected to formalise cooperation in areas aligned with the President’s focus on economic diversification, food security, and technical skills transfer.

The talks cap a five-day official visit to Belarus by President Mahama at the invitation of President Lukashenko.

The visit has focused on exploring partnerships in agro-processing, mechanisation, and investment.

Business Push
Later today, President Mahama will address a Ghana-Belarus business forum at the Presidential Hotel.

Key Ghanaian participants include the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), and a delegation of private sector players.

The forum is expected to connect Ghanaian businesses with Belarusian investors and technology firms.

Agro-tour Highlights
Over the weekend, the President toured Savushkin Product (Joint Stock Company), one of Belarus’ largest agro-processing facilities, to assess opportunities for Ghana’s food processing sector.

He also visited the Belagro Agricultural Exhibition, where he was introduced to a range of farming and mechanisation equipment, food processors, and other agri-tech solutions relevant to Ghana’s agricultural modernisation agenda.
