Kotoko Slapped with ₵80K Fine

The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has fined Asante Kotoko Sporting Club a whopping GHc80,000 for misconduct during the sixth matchday in the premier league.

The Kumasi-based club had some fans vandalising some seats at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex at Aberankese after the officiating referee decided to award what many Kotoko fans deemed an “undeserving” penalty to the hosts.

The penalty denied Kotoko a win, levelling the scoreline to 2-2.

Though the Porcupines had opposed to breaching Article 16(c) and Article 16(2)(f) of the GFA Disciplinary Code 2019 in their Premier League match, the FA found them guilty after investigations.

The FA in a statement noted that, the total fine will be given to Nations FC to repair the damage caused to the Stadium including the broken seats.

Their player, Sheriff Mohammed and kit officer, Issah Amadu have also been sanctioned for misconduct in the same match.

That does not seem to be the only trouble Kotoko have with the Disciplinary Committee. In a list of adjudicated cases, the Committee has sanctioned the club for misconduct during a match against Karela FC.
