Ghana Donates Relief Items Worth Ghc10 Million to Jamaica, Cuba and Sudan

Ghana has donated relief items worth Ghc10 million cedis to Jamaica, Cuba and Sudan.
The donations were presented on November 7, 2025, by President John Dramani Mahama, who said it reflected the country’s solidarity and compassion.
“Even though Ghana’s contribution will not resolve the humanitarian suffering that is going on there, we believe that if every country contributes its quota, we can help to alleviate what is happening in these places. These humanitarian items are worth about GHc10 million.”
In his speech, he expressed empathy towards the three countries, two of which are reeling from the impact of Hurricane Melissa.
“This is another gesture. Three countries are going to benefit: Jamaica, which is the hardest hit and also Cuba.”
Addressing the issue of Sudan, he lamented the shift of attention from the Northern African country.
“Sudan is actually becoming the forgotten war because of Ukraine and Gaza, where it looks like the world’s attention has shifted. Some of the atrocities, the genocide and the humanitarian suffering which is taking place are not something that belongs to the 21st Century.”
“We all witnessed al-Fashir when the RSF went in there, a lot of people were killed, displaced, and those people are in camps that are being run by the Red Cross.”
According Bridget Otto, a Presidential Staffer, to items donated included 2,400 bags of Ghana rice, 540 bags of sugar, 377 boxes of medication, 500 mattresses, 500 pillows, 100 cartons of gari mix, and 50,000 pieces of T-shirts.
