Jordan Ayew has written his name deeper into Ghanaian football history after becoming only the fourth player from the country to feature at three different FIFA World Cup tournaments.
The 34-year-old forward reached the impressive milestone during Ghana’s 1-0 victory over Panama in their opening Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Toronto on Wednesday.
Ayew, who previously represented the Black Stars at the 2014 tournament in Brazil and the 2022 edition in Qatar, joined an elite group of Ghanaian football legends that includes Asamoah Gyan, Sulley Muntari and his elder brother Andre Ayew.
The milestone appearance also saw Jordan Ayew officially become Ghana’s most capped player, surpassing his brother Andre in the process.
The veteran forward’s experience and leadership continue to be vital for the Black Stars as they navigate a tough Group L that also includes England and Croatia. His calm presence and professionalism on and off the pitch have been praised by both fans and the technical team.
This latest achievement further cements Jordan Ayew’s status as one of Ghana’s all-time greats and serves as a proud moment for the Ayew football family and the entire nation.
With the victory over Panama, the Black Stars have made a strong start to their 2026 World Cup campaign, and Jordan Ayew’s milestone adds extra significance to what could be a memorable tournament for the four-time African champions.
