John Jinapor Benchmarks Global Energy Storage Systems Ahead of Ghana’s 200MW BESS Rollout

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, is on a strategic working visit with power sector stakeholders to study global best practices in energy storage as government prepares to roll out the first phase of Ghana’s 200MW Battery Energy Storage System.

In a Facebook post on July 22, 2026, Mr Jinapor said the delegation is engaging with global pioneers to examine world-class operational frameworks, technological advancements and best practices in battery storage.

According to the Minister, the hands-on benchmarking is critical to ensuring the success of the landmark project.

“Witnessing these sophisticated, utility-scale setups in action is giving us the exact blueprints needed to ensure our upcoming solar-integrated grid deployment is resilient, highly efficient, and built to world-class standards,” he stated.

The 200MW BESS forms part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen grid stability and integrate more renewable energy into the national power system.
