Joe-Ghartey Explains Why He Took A Ring And Bible As Bride Price At His Daughter’s Wedding
Joe-Ghartey, Ghanaian politician and MP for Essikado-Ketan, has done something out of the popular in marriage ceremonies.
The former Attorney-General and Second Deputy Speaker has given his daughter’s hand in marriage without taking cash or any long list as bride price from the groom.
In a new video on Facebook on the parliamentarian page, spotted by opemsuo.com, he explained why he took only a Bible and ring as bride price at his daughter Ewurama Ghartey’s colourful wedding.
“Ewurama, God Bless you. Your husband’s family brought the ring and Bible. When I went for your mother’s hand in marriage, I also took just a ring and Bible to the family”. He said.
Joe-Ghartey added that he did not want to burden his daughter’s husband because he wasn’t burdened when he went to marry and he will be very happy if his daughter keeps the family’s tradition.
He added that he would be dead and gone by that time and if his daughter wishes she can also accept a Bible and ring as bride price.
His in-laws expressed their profound gratitude to the parliamentarian for his love, support, and kind gesture for them.
