I’ve Always Been Proud of UPSA – Asantehene Praises Alma Mater

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed his profound pride in his alma mater, the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

His Majesty returned to the institution on May 15, 2026, to deliver a lecture at the Ghana Business Leaders’ Conclave.

The lecture was held under the theme, “Leading With Integrity: Negotiation, Mediation and Ethical Governance for Business Sustainability.”

In his remarks, Otumfuo paid tribute to the school for the foundation it gave him.

“We are delighted to return to our cherished alma mater, and as always, we have come to pay homage to our illustrious past, to renew our present, and to draw fresh inspiration for the journey of generations yet unborn. We have always been proud of this university. We are proud of the foundations it gave us,” he said.

The King also acknowledged the school’s contribution to producing human capital for the service of Ghana, Africa, and the world.

Of particular note to the King was the Ghana Business Leaders’ Conclave initiated by the university, for which he said the leadership deserved the highest applause.

“But I dare say there has been no time to be prouder than now. The Ghana Business Conclave is an idea conceived in the best of times,” he stated.

Otumfuo studied Accounting at UPSA, then known as the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), before furthering his studies at the Polytechnic of North London, now London Metropolitan University, where he earned a Diploma in Management and Administration.
