Security Officials Raid Kumasi Tinker Island

Security officials have raided Tinker Island, an infamous drug hub in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The operation took place on May 13, 2025, and led to the seizure of some opioids and money.

This was confirmed by the Minister for Interior, Hon Muntaka Mubarak, as he commended the security agencies for this decisive action.

“My attention has been drawn to the recent anti-drug operation in Kumasi that led to the arrest of a suspected key drug trafficker.”

He further called for concerted efforts in ridding Kumasi of drug trafficking, as he mulled over the devastating impact on the country’s youth and the increase in crime.

“I urge the public to support this effort and provide credible information to the police.”

It may be recalled that the Minister, during an engagement with the Ashanti Regional Command, directed that the Tinker Island be dismantled.

He gave the police a six-month deadline to rid the area of illegal drug trading as he criticised failed efforts to sanitise the area of criminal activities.
