Gov’t Meets Rubber Industry Players to Address Pricing and Enforce Raw Rubber Export Ban

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has met with stakeholders in Ghana’s rubber sector to address key challenges facing the industry, including concerns over raw rubber pricing and compliance with the government’s export ban.
The engagement brought together rubber farmers, association representatives, processors, officials from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Tree Crops Development Authority, and other actors across the value chain.
In her remarks, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building an industrialised Ghana where raw materials are sourced, manufactured, and processed locally.
She urged stakeholders to comply with the ban on the exportation of raw rubber and assured them that her ministry would work with relevant agencies to remove bottlenecks in the rubber value chain to ensure benefits for all players.
The Commissioner General of the GRA, Mr Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, called on participants to collaborate in safeguarding their businesses and strengthening the sector.
The meeting forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to resolve structural challenges in the rubber industry and improve the competitiveness of Ghana’s agribusiness sector.
