Ghana Airports Interdicts Aviation Security Officer For Performing His Duty

Awudu Basit, an aviation security officer with the Kumasi Airport has been interdicted for performing his duty with “indiscretion” on September 8, 2022.

In a letter to the officer dated September 9, 2022, the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) said the officer while assigned to perform airside patrol duties, approached the Minister for National Security, Kan Dapaah as the latter emerged from the VVIP lounge to board a flight and demanded to perform a pre-boarding search on him.

As punishment, the officer has been interdicted effective September 9 till the investigation is done.

Additionally, he will receive just two-thirds of his salary in the course of his interdiction.
