Gabby: Flogging Of Wa Lovers In Leaked Sex Tape Insane
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, the founder of the public policy think tank the Danquah Institute (DI) has described the flogging of the two lovers in Wa over a leaked sex tape as “insane”.
Otchere-Darko is questioning the action of the residents against “two consenting adults” after the video of the flogging went viral.
“Two consenting adults (man and woman) decide to film themselves having sex, apparently. The tape goes viral and some in the community believe they have a responsibility to flog the couple publicly? Insane!” Otchere-Darko tweeted.
Flogging
Some residents in Wa in the Upper West Region on Tuesday publicly flogged the two lovers who were seen in a sex tape making rounds on social media.
The lovers were paraded in front of the courtyard of the Wa Naa’s Palace and lashed by the irate youth who had dragged the two there to report them to the chief.
The chief was absent when the two were dragged to the palace to be punished, a teacher and a royal Naa Kadiri told Asaaseradio.com moments after the incident.
“They said these were people who were caught allegedly engaging in sex and leaked the sex tape to the public. Unfortunately, when they got to the palace the Wa Naa wasn’t around,” he said. “We’re yet to get the full details about the incident.”
The youth then decided to take matters into their own hands by tying the two lovers to a pole in front of the palace and flogged them. The male believed to be 20 years is a tricycle driver and the 18-year-old ticket seller work at the Wa Central Market.
In the said leaked video, the two were seen having sex.
