Former GGA Prez Informs Asantehene About New Role, Introduces Successor

The former President of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), Mr Michael Aggrey has formally apprised Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II about his new role as the Secretary-General for Africa Golf Confederation (AGC).

Mr Aggrey was elected in November 2022 by the AGC during the body’s elective assembly held in Egypt during a council meeting at the El Gouna Golf Club in Hurghada, Red Sea.

He will occupy the role for four years and is being replaced at the GGA by Mr Leonard Kwaku Okyere.

During a courtesy call on Wednesday, June 14, Mr Aggrey, introduced the new executive committee members of the Association which is in charge of regulating and promoting golf games in Ghana -both professional and amateur.

At the Manhyia Palace, he unveiled Mr Leonard Kwaku Okyere to the King as his successor and Mr Larry Chiniboah as the vice President of the Association.

Mrs Liticia Amponsah Mensah was introduced as the Ladies’ Coordinator, Mr Rodney Odoi as Financial Secretary and Mr Solomon Oko as the Tournament Director.

Mr Okyere admitted his newly found role was arduous. He highlighted financial constraints saddling the Association as a major challenge and ascribed it to the lack of a steady source of revenue.

Congratulating Mr Aggrey on his new role, His Majesty attributed it to hard work and sound policies he put in place during his national role.

For the new leadership, Otumfuo pledged his unflinching support.

“I will support you in any way that I can.”
