FIFA Confirms Receipt Of Petition Against Ghana FA President

FIFA has confirmed receiving a petition to investigate the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr Kurt Okraku.

An email from the world football governing body cited by JoyNews said it “may” initiate an investigation into the allegations raised by concerned sports enthusiast Akwasi Ossei Nkrumah, the petitioner.

Sports journalist Muftawu Nabila Abdulai got a reaction from FIFA when he emailed it about the petition.

A reply from FIFA cited by JoyNews read, “Following an evaluation of the documents and information submitted, the Secretariat may initiate preliminary investigations into a potential breach of the FCE following instructions from the Chairperson of the Investigatory Chamber in accordance with Article 61 FCE.”

In a 17-page petition, Kurt was accused of forgery and falsification, conflict of interest, abuse of position, manipulation of football matches and breach of duty of loyalty as against Articles 25, 20, 26, 30 and 16 of the FIFA Code of Ethics respectively.

Ossei Nkrumah wants FIFA to impose a temporal suspension on Kurt whiles investigations are conducted into the “very serious allegations”.

He also called for the application of the strictest and highest sanctions on Kurt in accordance with articles 10,11&12 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.
