EPA Engages 100 Poultry Farmers in Sekyere South on New Environmental Permit Requirements

The Environmental Protection Agency has sensitised about 100 members of the Poultry Farmers Association in the Sekyere South Municipality on new environmental compliance requirements under Ghana’s updated laws.

The Mampong Office of the EPA held the engagement session today, focusing on the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124) and the Environmental Assessment Regulations, 2025 (LI 2504).

Farmers were educated on the need to obtain an Environmental Permit to operate legally and protect the environment.

Acting District Head of the EPA, Mr Mohammed Nurideen, led an intensive presentation on the purpose of the engagement and the specific permit requirements for poultry operations.

He explained how compliance helps manage waste, control pollution, and safeguard public health and water resources.

The leadership of the Poultry Farmers Association thanked the EPA team for the education. They pledged to ensure all members operating without permits take immediate steps to acquire the necessary documentation.

The EPA said it will continue similar outreach across the Ashanti Region to help farmers align with Act 1124 and LI 2504 as the laws come into full effect.
