Education Minister Urges WASSCE Candidates to Uphold Integrity as Exams Begin

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has extended his best wishes to candidates sitting for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) as they prepare to begin the tests across the country.

In a statement, the Minister urged the candidates to let integrity, discipline, and honesty guide them throughout the examination period.

He noted that their dedication and hard work had brought them this far and encouraged them to trust their preparation and believe in themselves.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Education, I wish you great success in your examinations,” Hon. Iddrisu said.

A total of 509,862 students, made up of 225,274 boys and 284,588 girls, are expected to sit for the exam today.

These final year students are from 1,020 Senior High Schools (SHS) across the country.

In a congratulatory message, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Prof Ernest Kofi Davis, stated that 12 years of formal education is not a mean achievement.

He expressed appreciation to stakeholders, particularly teachers, who contributed to the journey.

He further called on the candidates to support efforts to fight examination malpractices and conduct a successful WASSCE this year.

“Please, report examination malpractice to GES immediately you get the information that it is happening.”
