Otumfuo Foundation and Partner Commission Mechanized Borehole For Trede R/C Basic

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation in Partnership with Harambee International Development Corporation (HIDC), a charitable foreign based Organization has on March 7, 2024, commissioned a mechanized borehole and donated learning materials to Trede R/C Basic School in the Atwima Kwanwoma District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

The borehole is estimated to have cost the foundation GHC35,000 together with books and other learning materials, which also cost GHC22,000.

The project was commissioned under the auspices of Otumfuo Hiahene Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, doubling as the Board Chairman of the foundation together with the foundation’s Head of Stakeholders Relations, Mr Kwabena Owusu Ababio and Rev. Tyree Anderson, Chairman of the Board of Directors (Harambee International).

Also present at the ceremony were the Atwima Kwanwoma District Education Director, Mrs. Doris Ofori and representatives of Trede Traditional Council.

Speaking to Opemsuo News Reporter Kwaku Wusu Aduomi, Otumfuo Hiahene emphasized how Otumfuo Osei Tutu II had the vision to maintain and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in his 25 years on the Golden Stool.

According to him, in contributing to the developmental projects, education was the first, in accordance with SDG areas Health, Water and Sanitation.

“We cannot go to school and do well if we are not healthy Also we have to be healthy by having good water since water is life. There are so many planets and this is the only planet that have water and that is why we have life so we have to cherish it.”

“Unfortunately our water bodies are being destroyed and we hope there will be a reversal in the attitude of those who are doing this menace. We are very grateful to all our partners who held funded this initiative.”

“Maintenance culture is very important and we don’t want to come tomorrow to hear that it has broken down. Authorities should take proper care of it”, he stressed.

On his part, the Abontendonhene Nana Osei Tutu Agyemang Diawuo who represented Tredehene Nana Nuben Sra III commended Otumfuo Foundation and Harambee International for the gesture.

He emphasized that the water project will enhance teaching and learning.

“Trede community is very grateful and we ask for more community support projects. It is going to help our students and the school at large.”

Also, the Atwima Kwanwoma District Education Director Mrs. Doris Ofori disclosed that, the water facility will improve the sanitation situation of the school and give students access to safe water.

“On behalf of the Regional Director of Education, I wish to take this opportunity the express my deepest gratitude to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Her Royal Highness Lady Julia Osei Tutu and the trustees of Otumfuo Foundation and Harambee International for the massive support and contribution towards the development of Education in the district particularly to our basic and senior high schools.”

“Your high sense of commitment has helped the education sector and other sectors to improve. May God continue to bless you all for the support given to Ghana and Asanteman,” she stated.
