ECG Shuts Down Sogakope Bulk Supply Point

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced the closure of the Sogakope Bulk Supply Point due to safety concerns.

This decision follows heavy rains in the Volta Region, affecting residents in the three Tongu Districts and Anlo, as a result of a sustained increase in the inflow pattern and water level of the Akosombo Dam. This resulted to flooding that has affected many homes and businesses.

ECG disclosed that this flooding from the Akosombo Dam has inundated the Sogakope Bulk Supply Point, necessitating its shutdown. The closure, primarily driven by safety concerns, will disrupt the supply of electricity to several areas, including Sogakope, Akatsi, Adidome, Anloga, Abor, Keta, and nearby regions.

In a statement released, ECG stated, “Engineers from both GRIDco and ECG are ready to restore power supply to the affected areas as soon as the water subsides.”

ECG further expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the shutdown of the Sogakope Bulk Supply Point.
